For pilots

Already flying or keen to start? Let’s fly together.

FPV, a camera drone, a micro-drone, an RC plane, car or boat — in Bydgoszcz we’re building a crew that makes flying more fun and safer.

Next flying session: Every Wednesday and Saturday, 2 hours before sunset
Initiator: Andrii Shramko

Let’s start with the first meet-up

Nature, flying, something to eat, chatting and getting to know each other. We set the date and place together in the group.

First meet-up: what suits you?

Four clicks. No personal data — we only count the answers to pick a date and place.

These are not empty words

Photos and videos from what the initiator helped create in Opole. This is how we want to fly in Bydgoszcz too.

This is what weekly flights with the Opole pilots look like: a short meetup, a few batteries, good conversation. We are bringing this format to Bydgoszcz.

What we’ll be doing

To be honest: some of it already works, and some is starting right now — with the people who sign up.

Starting now

We fly on Wednesdays and Saturdays

Every Wednesday and Saturday, for the 2 hours before sunset. We agree on the spot in advance in the Facebook group.

Planned

Big flying picnics

A few times a year: nature, flying, something to eat, chatting and getting to know each other — as a big crew.

Workshops: building and repairing FPV drones

For beginners and experienced pilots alike: soldering, Betaflight setup, post-crash repairs.

Live

A simulator built on scans of real places

Practise FPV in your browser over a photorealistic 3D scan. Free, nothing to install.

Alpha version

Before you buy a drone

Try flying FPV over a real place in your browser — for free. You’ll find out whether it’s for you, without crashing your first drone.

  • Free and open source (MIT licence).
  • Over 1,300 public 3D scans to choose from.
  • Your own place: scan it with a drone or phone, then fly it in the simulator.
  • Runs in browsers with WebGPU (Chrome, Edge).

It’s an alpha version — we’re developing it together with pilots.

We fly safely and legally

Every pilot flies at their own risk and in line with current EU and ULC (Polish Civil Aviation Authority) rules: operator registration, the required competencies (e.g. A1/A3), mandatory operator third-party liability insurance (OC) for drones from 250 g to 20 kg, checking airspace zones and notifying the flight in the DroneTower app (PAŻP). We do not fly over assemblies of people. The initiator does not organise flights for third parties and is not responsible for flights by group participants.

Not sure whether you can fly? Ask in the group before you take off.

Parents

Does your child dream of a drone? Drones teach physics, programming and responsibility. We run activities for children only at a host institution (a school or community centre), under its child safeguarding standards. We do not collect children’s data.

FAQ

Do I need a drone?

No. You can come along to watch, chat and try the simulator. We’ll help you work out where to start.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Meet-ups are free — everyone comes at their own expense and flies at their own risk.

When do we fly?

Every Wednesday and Saturday, for the 2 hours before sunset. The time is calculated automatically and shown on this page; we agree on the spot in advance in the Facebook group.

Where do we fly?

We choose the spot together in the group — only where flying is allowed. Bydgoszcz has airport zones, so we always check DroneTower.

I have an RC car or boat. Is this for me?

Yes. The RC Bydgoszcz group is open to all remote-controlled models: drones, planes, cars and boats.

Is this already an association?

Not yet. Today it’s an informal community; we’ll found the association once a committed crew comes together.
